What would you do to curb consumption of gasoline by the people of the USA?
I know the market will eventually dictate how this will play out but I am looking fro something a little more in depth. NYC had over 22 thousand miles of trolley track and when the automotive industry came into being it lead to the removal of all this track eventually clogging the city with traffic and airpollution. I am seeing a lot more people using motorcycles for their commute and that is pretty smart. Then I think of the airline industry and the military using massive quantities of gasoline. We seem to only whine and cry when prices rise dramatically but we never institute any new programs or incentives to curb gasoline consumption.

Do you think motorcycles should be allowed to park in fire zones? they are too small to really block a hydrant, and a hose could easily go over/around them. what are your thoughts?
If you have to ask then that is the problem. I hope you are not wanting to park there. Just imagine how much a 5 inch supply line weighs when full of water; you just don’t kick it around. But if you want a couple a hundred pounds of supply hose ruining your bike then go for it. I am sure a firefighter would enjoy laying one across the handle bars or tins.
Don’t listen to symanlegr… because i can promise you that you are not always the first out and that the firefighters are not going to get out and move the bike. Most likely it will either be knocked over or ran over at the owners expense with no liability going back to the fire dept. It is a tow away zone for a reason.

I dont know what to call it so I am going to try an describe it.I have a 2007 Kawasaki ZZR600 and the thing that holds the coolant fluid, I guess, (its on the left side by the gear shifter) is cracked because I dropped it a few days ago. How to figure the value of a used motorcycle from a private seller?
I’m interested in a bike from a private seller near where I live. He’s asking $5,200. I looked up the bike on Kelly Blue Book and it’s valued at $4,600 and in NADA it’s valued at $4,100. However, neither of these sites show price based on mileage, only the year. I was hoping to use this as a negotiating tool and I made him an offer higher than both of these values. However, he wouldn’t budge on his price and says his is worth more because the bike has very low miles. How do I know what a bike is worth based on miles? Is he being reasonable?

First thing you did right was look at the blue book, This gives a ball park price for the bike. Norrmally, The bike would be expected to be any more then this, however milage (LOW) and added chrome ect could increase value.
Next, Type that bike in on the web or ebay, what are others selling it for. That will again give you a comparison.
Last, anything in the world thats for sale, can be priced at whatever somebody is willing to pay. What i mean is a Star trekbaseball card to the right fan is 1,000.00 to anyone else its trash.
Do you want this bike so bad youll pay that price ? dont let your pride get in the way, If you only want to spend 4,500 on a bike, Then make that offer and if not accepted, move on.
Another way to look at it is to look in the paper, what else could you get for that 4,500 dollars, if they dont compare, then maybe its worth it.
but remember, its your money, have fun and take your time.
