looking in to getting am motorcycle?

i am 19 wanting to get a cruiser bike not a crotch rocket. i wanna know what i should be looking for when buying a motorcycle and maybe share some insight. i tried to get a quote for the insurance but i don’t own a bike yet so i cant punch in the type of bike etc. so if anyone around my age group could tell me how much their insurance normally is. i’m starting from ground zero so any help will be great!

Good choice man, cruisers are way cooler to look at than crotch-rockets, and girls are more likely to climb on the back of ‘em. So here’s my advice- get something small and used to learn on. Cruisers are heavy and when they start going over, there’s precious little you can do to stop ‘em. There are a couple of classic learner bikes that have a cruiser kind of aesthetic to them- Honda Rebel 250s and Suzuki GZ250 and GS500L are great to start on. Also, most people turn their nose up at Korean bikes, but I really loved riding my Hyosung GV250, and it was small and light, but looked like a decent sized bike. buy one of those, or something like it (stay under 600cc’s) and get really comfortable with the way a bike handles, and then get a Yamaha VStar 1100. I’m assuming you’re not looking for a Harley- the VStars are great bikes and they look good and sound good and are all-round good cruisers. Another fine choice is a Honda Shadow VT1100 (they’ve discontinued the model though, but they’re around used on craigslist, which is where you are best off looking for a used bike at a reasonable price)
Good luck man, and have fun!!

bmw motorcycle wiki
Is it true that DaimlerChrysler Corp. builds BMW motorcycles in the German state of Berlin?

or is this just a misleading sentence… “DaimlerChrysler manufactures cars and BMW motorcycles in Berlin.”

from the Economy (2nd paragraph) section at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin

It’s misleading and wrong (typical for wikipedia). DC has a major office in Berlin as a car manufacturer but does not manufacture cars there only engines and yes BMW does produce motorcycles in Berlin-Haselhorst.

Motorcycle Ignition Coil Resistance

motorcycle ignition coil?

I need a new ignition coil on my 1981 kawasaki kz440 ltd belt driven motorcyle but i dont want to get an OEM part due to its price of $155.00. I want to know if anybody knows an aftermarket coil that would fit but be under $60.00. My original one is a TEK ZC006-TR12V and my resistance range is 2.2-3.5 OHMS. All i need is one that is 12 volts and in that resistance range and it must be a dual fire coil.

Any ’79 and up electronic ignition Kaw coil would meet those specs, although the high tension leads may not be long enough. You might check JC Whitney, I know they have single lead bike coils. Keep in mind that the coil does not have to fit under the tank, get one that’s physically larger and you can always mount it somewhere else such as under the seat or near the air cleaner. The length of the plug wire isn’t going to matter.

is this legal to do?…..?

just bought a bike and its the weekend so i cant get it insured just yet….but buddy i bought it from said im allowed to drive it for 30 days with it being registered or anything…now he signed over the papers to me and all that and hes goin to drop off his stuff on Monday or Tuesday…he gave me his insurance card to prove that its insured ….i live in nova scotia if that helps

actually there are 24 hour insurance companies on line and if you look around you, you will find many open on Saturday. But if he has an insurance card that shows that the bike in indeed insured, the bike is covered, so enjoy it on his dime for a couple of day.
