I have a 1980 Suzuki GS 550, 4 cylinders and only 1 and 4 are firing. 2 and 3 are controlled by the same ignition coil, which was bench tested ok, actaully 2 different ignition coils were tried. The wiring leading up to the coil are ok and getting voltage and the starter motor is working properly. Even tried on new spark plugs and with a new starter relay and still no luck. What could be wrong?
The motorcycle will not start unless opening the throttle. Once it starts it will run perfect until I release the throttle and it will immediatly stop. Anyone know what is causing this and how it can be fixed!? Its a 1980 Suzuki GS550.
Before you go looking for the ignition box, first check the magnetic pickups (the things that replaced the points). Lay a spark plug on the engine from each coil, turn the key on and with a small screwdriver, quickly tap the metal center of the pickup coil. Each time you do, the plug should fire. If one does and the other doesn’t, that’s most likely the problem. I’ve been through plenty of them.
I have been contemplating about a new exhaust for my 2007 Suzuki GSX-R 600. The two exhausts are an Akrapovic Full Exhaust or a M-4 Full Exhaust system. I want something that sounds like one of the professional racers on the track. I was having a hard to finding the specs for the two and would really like to know which one has the most increase in horsepower and has a really loud sound when traveling at 7000 rpms or higher. If you have any information that could help aide me in my decision, that would be great.
Thank You!
Akrapovic full system. Install a power commander and a k&n as well to get the best out of it.
