What are my legal remedies pertaining to stolen motorcycle in Arkansas?
My 2000 Ultra fat Pounder was stolen from the home of an acquaintance who had borrowed the bike for about 1 month. The person rents this residence and the owner of the residence is his boss whose primary business is in Texas. I would like to know my legal remedies as to who I can pursue to repay the monies lost due to this theft. The bike is worth $10,000 and of course I did not have insurance on the bike. If the person has renters insurance could I file a claim or if the homeowner has insurance, would that be possible. I don’t even know how to go about finding out who the insurance company is. This happened in Arkansas. A police report was filed. Any other suggestions would also be welcomed.
While you certainly are short on horse sense for not having insurance, the acquaintance (and this is important) was in “Care, Custody, and Control” of the machine. Therefore responsible….perhaps criminally negligent.
Since the replacement cost(s) are more than $5,000, this cannot be brought to small claims court. This has to be filed in the county of your residence, in district court (civil division). If the county court will not hear it you can take it to the state level. Taking into consideration it is in an amount over $5,000, you may be able to initially file in state court, but if it is dismissed you must make a motion at that moment for the court to dismiss “without prejudice”, or else you cannot step back into county.

I burnt my leg on a motorcycle exhaust pipe.?
My friends dad gave me a ride home on his motorcycle. It was the first time I had ever been on a motorcycle. I’m really short so the bike was a bit to tall for my liking. When I was getting off my right calf touched the exhaust pipe for about 2 seconds. The burn hurt really bad for the first 1 hour or so. Then when I woke up in the morning I have a blister that looks and feels like 7 individual bubble wrap bubbles in one. The burn mark is red and and about 2 inches wide and one inch high. Is there anything I should do to remove this HUGE blister thats on my leg? And if it stays like that could it get worse if I play sports? Thanks for reading I’m just really worried that something bad might have happened and I just want it to stop burning as fast as possible.
Do NOT pop the blisters. Your skin is providing the best possible protection against infection. Just keep the burn lightly wrapped to protect the blisters from damage.
Welcome to the club. I have found the scars fade away after about 10 years.

1983 Honda motorcycle cruising speed.?
I recently sold a really great old motorcycle. It was a 1983 VT750C Honda Shadow. The cruising speed was very high , which is very important to me because I like cruising desert highways. I replaced it with a 2006 kawasaki 900 Vulcan. The engine seems to rev much higher at highway speed on the Vulcan. I have used mathematical calculations to determine the engine rpm at 60 miles per hour, (no tachometer). Anybody have a Honda like the one described above who can tell me what the tachometer reads at 60 Miles per hour so I can make a comparison? Thanks
I think your old Honda had offset crankpins for each piston, it probaby ran smoother, had lots of power, and turned less rpm than the Kaw.
But you can get a smaller rear pulley and belt for the KAW and it will run less rpm on the highway.
Those 900s are nice bikes, you just need to adjust it a bit to exactly what you need.

My wife is 5’2 and about 120 pounds and we want to buy matching sportsbikes. What’s our options?
My wife and I recently completed a motorcycle safety course and want to purchase matching sport bikes. She is 5’2 and 120 pds. I’m not to sure what her inseam is. I’m 5 ’11 and 220 pds. Whenever we go to the dealership, she sits on the bikes and her feet aren’ t close to being flat on the ground. She wants a bike that is 600cc because that is what the gsx-r, yzf-r, and cbr starts off in and that is going to be the type of bike that I get. While taking the motorcycle course we rode on a 150cc standard type bike. We know that the sportsbike is alot different and that 600cc is alot more power and that the throttle and clutch on the sportbike is not as forgiving.
What are your suggestions as far as her riding a 600cc sportsbike? Should we try to lower the bike and shave the seat or not get one at all? If the bike is lowered (the proper way with the lowering kit), will the ground clearence be a safety issue? Any other suggestions that you have will be greatly appreciated.
I’m not a big Kawasaki fan but they do make good starter bikes. The new ninja 250R and 650 are good looking and comfortable bikes that with low cc’s that she can learn on. (The 250R also costs about the same as a good used 600 so if she does something like … forget to put the kickstand down, you won’t be out too much money.) If you are still worrying about the bikes matching just get the in the same color or something until she knows what she is doing. If that doesn’t work the ninja 600 and GSXR 600 look really sexy if you get them lowered.
Good luck.
